Demian is a 5-year-old boy from Bamenda in Cameroon's English-speaking region. Born in 2020, he lives with his mother, who has become his sole caregiver under difficult circumstances. Shortly after Demian's birth, his father was kidnapped and remains missing to this day. More recently, Demian's mother was involved in an accident that has left her unable to work, eliminating the household's source of income.
Despite these challenges, Demian shows the curiosity and enthusiasm typical of a child his age. He enjoys playing in the yard with his friends—an activity that helps him relax and develop important social skills. Even at his young age, Demian understands friendship as "people who share ideas together," showing his developing emotional intelligence. He recently experienced a setback when he fractured his knee, which required him to study from home temporarily, but he has recovered well and is now back at school.
Demian particularly enjoys mathematics and English language classes. He appreciates English because "it helps me to communicate"—a practical insight for a child in Cameroon's multilingual society. When it comes to meals, Demian loves eating beans, and his favourite colour is red. For special occasions, his idea of celebration combines simple pleasures: eating well and dressing well.

Looking to the future, Demian hopes to be in Form 5 (secondary school) in ten years' time. He already has aspirations of becoming a doctor when he grows up, and has also expressed interest in learning electrical work as a skill, showing his curiosity about how things work.
Your sponsorship would ensure Demian can begin his education with a strong foundation and without the interruptions that many older children in our programme have experienced. This support would cover school fees, books, stationery, and other necessary educational materials. Beyond education, your contribution would help provide nutritious food for Demian and his mother, access to healthcare when needed, and essentials like clothing and shoes—all crucial support for a household without income.
We keep our sponsors connected through monthly updates that include recent photographs and reports on Demian's activities and progress. You'll see how your contribution directly supports his development and well-being. With sponsorship options beginning at £25 per month, you can help Demian build toward his aspirations while addressing his and his mother's immediate needs.
