Verinoel is a 9-year-old boy from Bamenda in Cameroon's Boyo region. Born in 2016, he currently lives with his aunt, who has taken on his care. Verinoel's mother does small-scale farming, which doesn’t generate enough income to support Verinoel and his three siblings. Tragically, Verinoel's father was killed by military forces during the Anglophone crisis, adding to the family's challenges.
Despite these difficult circumstances, Verinoel approaches life with the enthusiasm typical of a child his age. Currently in Class 3 of primary school, he has received a donation to cover this year's school fees, but needs ongoing support for his education. He takes particular pride in attending school, understanding even at his young age that education "will help me in the future." This insight has been rewarded recently with A grades in both Art and Sports—achievements that have brought him joy and confidence.
Verinoel enjoys both English and French classes, showing an aptitude for languages that aligns well with his aunt's observation that he might like to become a lawyer someday. His favourite school item is the school bag that Children of Cameroon provided him—he appreciates how it helps him organise and carry all his belongings. When it comes to meals, Verinoel loves eating fufu corn, and his favourite colour is white.
Beyond academics, Verinoel takes pride in his athletic abilities, particularly his running skills. He recently attended a Children of Cameroon Easter party where he especially enjoyed eating ice cream—a special treat. He also has a fondness for Valentine's Day celebrations, showing his appreciation for special occasions that bring joy and connection.
