Welcome to Children of Cameroon

Updated: Nov 10, 2020

Welcome to Children of Cameroon’s blog, and to our first blog post! We have set this up to document our journey in setting up our organisation, and starting the process to become a registered UK child sponsorship charity.

Firstly, here’s a little about us:

Children in Cameroon is a small organisation based in South-West England. Our aim is to help children in Cameroon who currently struggle to access education. This struggle is usually a result of poverty. Most of the children on our books have lost either one or both parents, usually to the HIV virus. Without money, children cannot attend school and cannot afford basics such as food, school textbooks, and school uniforms, to name just a few.

We have a strong working relationship with a Cameroonian organisation, Goodness and Mercy Missions. The director, Francis Teh, and his team work with us to identify children who would benefit from sponsorship, and then his field workers carry out tasks such as paying the children’s school fees and purchasing and distributing food and items, as a result of their sponsorship.

The girl in the photo below is Larissa, an 11-year-old who has found a sponsor. She now attends school, and has a school uniform, books and stationary. She also has weekly meat and vegetables delivered to her, for her and her family. Her siblings are still waiting for sponsors.
