The type of personal information we collect

We currently collect and process the following information:

Children and families
● Personal identifiers, including:

o name, date of birth, email address, telephone number, school or
organisation name, address, age, date of birth, location, sex, gender,
language and whether you have a disability.

● We will also record information about your and your family’s personal
circumstances, your support needs and the funding provided to you and how it
has been used.

Donors, sponsors and supporters

● Personal identifiers, including:

o name, email address, telephone number, address,

● We will also record the amounts of money you have donated

Staff and volunteers

have carried out for us; bank of other details enabling us to transfer
funds; information you provided us in connection with your application

How we get the personal information and why we have it
Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one
of the following reasons:
● To enable us to support you including making payments to help your attendance
at school
● To enable us to maintain our relationship with you as a donor, sponsor or
supporter
● To enable you to work with us as a volunteer or staff member.
We may share this information with other organisations working in Cameroon to
support children and young people to attend education and training.


Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we
rely on for processing this information are:
(a) our legitimate interest in order to provide support, receive funds,
communicate with supporters, and employ staff and volunteers.
(b) In some instances we may also obtain your consent. You are able to
remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting Christina

How we store your personal information
Your information is securely stored on secure internet based folders.
We keep information for only for the time you are receiving support,
donating/sponsoring/supporting or working with us. We will then dispose of your
information within 6 months from the time your relationship with us ends by deleting
it from our internet based folders.

Your data protection rights
Under data protection law, you have rights including:
Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal
information.
Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal
information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete
information you think is incomplete.
Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal
information in certain circumstances.
Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the
processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
Your right to object to processing - You have the right to object to the processing
of your personal information in certain circumstances.
Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the
personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain
circumstances.
You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a
request, we have one month to respond to you.
