Samuel is a 5-year-old boy from Yaoundé in Cameroon's French-speaking region. Born in 2019, he lives with his mother and three siblings in a one-room apartment. While his mother works as a farmer and generates some income, it's not sufficient to cover the educational and basic needs of Samuel and his siblings.
Currently in his second year of nursery, Samuel is looking forward to starting Class 1 in September—an important milestone in his educational journey. He particularly enjoys drawing and colouring activities at school, showing an early interest in creative expression. Recently, Samuel benefited from a grant received by Children of Cameroon that provided textbooks for unsponsored children—resources he generously shares with his classmates, demonstrating kindness beyond his years.
When not in school, Samuel enjoys visiting his friend Christina Rhema to play card games and also likes playing football to relax. He has expressed a desire to improve his mathematics skills, showing an awareness of his own learning even at this young age. Samuel's favourite person is Mercy, an older sponsored child who lives with him. He values her deeply because "she takes me to school and washes my clothes," and also helps him with his homework, showing how important these acts of care and support are to him.
Samuel has a healthy appetite—when asked to share something interesting about himself, he mentioned that he "likes to eat a lot of food." His favourite meal is rice, and his favourite colour is red. Looking to the future, Samuel has already expressed an interest in becoming a police officer when he grows up, showing early aspirations toward a role that helps and protects others.
Your sponsorship would ensure Samuel can begin his formal education with a strong foundation and without the interruptions that many older children in the program have experienced. This support would cover school fees, books, stationery, and other necessary educational materials. Beyond education, your contribution would help provide nutritious food for Samuel and his family, access to healthcare when needed, and essentials like clothing and shoes—all crucial support for a household with limited income stretched across multiple children.
We keep our sponsors connected through monthly updates that include recent photographs and reports on Samuel's activities and progress. You'll see how your contribution directly supports his development and well-being. With sponsorship options beginning at £25 per month, you can help Samuel build toward his aspirations while addressing his and his family's immediate needs.
