Treasure is a 15-year-old student from Belo in Cameroon's Boyo region. Born in 2009, he currently lives with a family friend who stepped in to provide care when his circumstances changed. While Treasure's mother is present in his life, her business collapsed during the regional crisis, leaving her unable to support him financially or continue paying his school fees.
Despite these challenges, Treasure has demonstrated remarkable academic potential. Though he doesn't yet have a permanent sponsor, generous donations have allowed him to attend school, where he is truly excelling. He recently achieved a 16-point average (out of 20)—an outstanding accomplishment for any student in Cameroon, particularly one who has faced significant adversity. This academic success speaks volumes about Treasure's intelligence, determination, and work ethic.
Treasure has a natural aptitude for science, particularly physics and chemistry. While chemistry is actually his strongest subject, physics has captured his interest and become his favourite class. This scientific mindset aligns perfectly with his aspiration to become an engineer—a goal he's working diligently toward. Looking ahead, Treasure hopes to enter university within five years and complete his education within ten years, at which point he aims to be established in his career.
When not studying, Treasure contributes to his household by carrying water and helping with food preparation—he particularly enjoys slicing tomatoes and cooking. To relax, he enjoys taking walks and often appreciates his own company, showing a thoughtful, introspective nature. He has expressed interest in learning more about motor mechanics and computing, both of which would complement his engineering aspirations.
This past year has brought significant challenges for Treasure, including several deaths in his family. Through these difficulties, he has developed mature insights about human connection, noting that "friendship is important as it unites people" and "kindness is important as others are then kind in return." Recently, he attended a Children of Cameroon Christmas party where he enjoyed making art and sharing food and drinks with others. His goals for the coming year include improving his reading skills and preparing to return for his GCEs (General Certificate of Education exams) in 2026.
Your sponsorship would ensure Treasure can continue his education consistently with all necessary materials—uniform, textbooks, and stationery. With his exceptional academic performance, this is a particularly crucial time to provide support that nurtures his potential. Beyond education, your support would help provide nutritious food for Treasure and his household, access to healthcare when needed, and essentials like clothing and shoes.
We keep our sponsors connected through monthly updates that include recent photographs and reports on Treasure's activities and progress. You'll see how your contribution directly supports his development and well-being. With sponsorship options beginning at £25 per month, you can help Treasure build toward his engineering aspirations while addressing his immediate needs.
