Hygiene Project
Every girl deserves access to basic hygiene products.
That’s the starting point for this project not because we asked a list of questions, or because anyone had to explain their needs, but because no girl should ever have to.
At Children of Cameroon, we’ve begun to realise just how many families can’t prioritise hygiene products for their daughters. It’s not about a lack of care. it’s about a lack of means. These items are expensive, and often fall far down the list when money is tight.
So we’re starting this project now. Because dignity shouldn't depend on income. Because no girl should go without.
What we’re doing
We’re launching a monthly hygiene programme across all three of our areas: Bamenda, Belo, and Yaoundé. The aim is simple: to make sure the girls we work with have what they need consistently, quietly, and without fuss.
Every month, our field workers will check in with girls and ask if they would like to be included. A simple “yes” is all that’s needed. No explanation. No shame. Just choice and respect.
We will then buy products directly from local shops and discreetly provide them to those who want them.
Here’s what we aim to provide:
-
Pads – every month (💸 £2)
-
Soap – every 3 months (💸 £4)
-
Razors – every 6 months (💸 £2)
This project will grow over time, but our goal is to start small and make sure it’s done right.
Why it matters
Some of the girls have told us they need hygiene products. But none of them needed to explain why. The need is clear — and the right to dignity, safety, and comfort should never be something to earn.
By supporting this project, you’re helping make sure girls don’t have to choose between feeling confident and managing without. You’re giving them one less thing to worry about and one more reason to feel valued.
How you can help
If you’d like to support this project, you can donate via PayPal. Even a small donation helps us provide regular supplies.
This isn’t a flashy project. It won’t make headlines. But it will change someone’s day — quietly, consistently, and with kindness.
