Art Parties
Our art parties are a fun celebration of creativity, community, and self-expression. Held in different areas across Cameroon, these events bring children together through art – giving them the tools, space, and encouragement to create, connect, and have fun.
The idea
The idea behind our art parties is simple: provide a platform where children can express themselves through art. We set up engaging sessions filled with paints, brushes, crayons, and canvases, encouraging each child to create something unique. This creative process is not only enjoyable but also supports emotional wellbeing, builds self-esteem, and strengthens social bonds.
The result
Each art party has had its own special theme and magic. At Christmas, the children created colourful handprints and artwork that we turned into beautiful decorations for the tree we displayed at the Crediton Christmas Tree Festival – a proud moment that let their creativity shine to the wider world.
More recently, we hosted Easter art parties across all three areas – Belo, Bamenda, and Yaoundé – where the children were invited to draw self-portraits. Some even surprised us by choosing to draw pictures of their sponsors, which was incredibly touching to see.
You can see some of their wonderful creations below.
The impact
The impact of these art parties extends far beyond paint and paper. They create safe, inclusive spaces where children can explore their identities, build friendships, and simply enjoy being children. Each party also includes a healthy meal, adding to the sense of care and celebration.
We’ve loved seeing how much the children enjoy these gatherings – and we can’t wait to host the next one.
