5 ways to Fundraise During Covid-19

Whilst the pandemic will have undoubtably put the brakes on some of our usual face-to-face fundraising activities, that doesn’t mean that we should be stopping our fundraising altogether. We’ve come up with ten easy ways you can fundraise safely and following social distancing rules.

A Sponsored Physical Activity

Whilst we can’t all raise £33million like Captain Tom Moore, there’s a lot of inspiration that can be taken from the Captain’s sponsored 100 laps around his garden. The generosity of individuals across the UK donating to his campaign shows that sponsored activities can be a great success.

Whether it’s walking, running or cycling, why not set a personal target and encourage family and friends to sponsor you? Not only will you be raising crucial funds for a cause of your choice, you’ll also be getting fit and setting a personal goal to accomplish (which is something we’ve all been urged to do in these challenging lockdown times).

Stay healthy, get fit, improve your wellbeing and raise money for a good cause.

Host a Virtual Coffee Morning

We all love a good hot drink, whether that be a steaming cup of coffee, a soothing mug of tea or an indulgent hot chocolate treat. We’re even more partial when it comes with a generous slab of cake!

That’s why coffee mornings can be a fantastic way to raise money for a good cause, and they’re also really easy to hold virtually. They can be a great opportunity to take a break from our busy lives and indulge in some general chit-chat, which is also really important during these isolating times.

So, set up your meeting link (we recommend Zoom, Teams, Whatsapp or Facebook), create your JustGiving page and snuggle up with a cup of your favourite beverage, all while raising money for a cause of your choice.

Online Bingo Night

Let’s be honest, we all enjoy a good game of bingo (even when our numbers don’t come up five games in a row…)

Bingo is a fun and easy game to play for all ages and abilities and we’re sure you’ll get lots of interest in a virtual bingo night. There are lots of tools out there that provide free online bingo cards and can offer some advice on how to run a virtual bingo night in practice. It’s a sure way to have some fun and connect with family and friends whilst raising money.

Birthday fundraiser

Do you have a birthday coming up? Birthday fundraisers are a great opportunity to raise money for a good cause.

It’s really easy to set up a fundraiser on justgiving.com and just as easy to set up a birthday fundraiser on Facebook. You’ll just need to select your cause, add a few lines explaining why you’re fundraising for this cause in particular, set a target you’d like to reach and share the fundraiser with your family and friends.

You can even raise an extra 25% on top of their donations is they select Gift Aid when they donate.

Virtual Quizzes

We all remember that stage of lockdown when it seemed like an endless stream of Zoom quizzes. We can’t blame you for wanting to take a few weeks off, but we know that you’re back and eyeing up that online pub quiz your friend posted the other day.

Why not use virtual quizzes as a means of fundraising? Setting up a quiz is fun and watching your family and friends compete to secure top place is highly entertaining. You can even recycle quiz questions for different groups, which will mean you will fundraise even more. If you’re struggling to come up with questions, or can’t commit to the time, there’s lots of already made quizzes out there you can use.
